FAUVISM

From the French word "fauve", meaning "beast", Fauvism was a movement in the early 20th century that explored the use of bold and vibrant colors as the main element of artistic composition. Raoul Dufy, Henri Matisse and Maurice de Vlaminck are members of the group "Fauves".

Expressionism

Movement of artistic creation that reflected the unique personal vision of the artist and often incorporating or expressing personal emotions. Two important German expressionist groups were Die Brücke (The Bridge) and Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Horseman). Artists associated with Expressionism also include Wassily Kandinsky, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, and Oskar Kokoschka.

CUBISM

An art style that abandons traditional techniques to create spatial illusions and focuses on perspective, but uses abstract geometric figures to represent three-dimensional shapes, generally providing multiple views at the same time. Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque are generally considered to have developed Cubism in the early 20th century.
